Urbanest wishes to invite all NorSK members and friends to a FREE Mid-Exam BBQ over at their display centre on South Bank, Monday November 9th at noon.

Urbanest is a new and exciting affordable 700 room student housing complex due to open on South Bank for tenants in January/Februar 2010, which is currently open to applications.

Take a study break and head over to Urbanest’s display centre at Unit 2b / 66 Ernest St, South Bank on Monday to have a look at what they are offering. You can choose between a studio apartment or a room in a 4, 5, or 6 bedroom share apartment. Rents are for furnished apartments/rooms, and include electricity, water, broadband and contents insurance.

A haunted castle, spooky costumes, pumpkins, severed heads… it’s time for NorSK’s annual Halloween Party!

Tickets will be sold Wednesday October 14 outside STA Travel on QUT Gardens Point between 12-1pm. If you wish to come to the party, you better get a friend to buy you a ticket, ’cause these sell out quickly! Limited number of tickets available.

A ticket entitiles you to return busfare from the corner of Alice St. & George St. to the castle, and from the castle to the after party venue (TBA) around midnight. Also inclusive two slices of pizza.

Please be there 10 minutes prior to departure as the buses will be punctual. Don’t forget your ticket!

Your name and ticket number will be cross-referenced with our list, and you will not be granted access to another bus than the one you are allocated to as there are no vacant seat. If you are unable to attend the party and sell your ticket, please please let us know so we can edit our list.

FAQ: How does it work?
Everyone who meet up at the Pig’n'Whistle on the Riverside are divided into three groups: Each with a different colour coded tag on a lanyard with an itiniary of where you’ll go during the night. Group leaders accompany each group around to the different venues, and all groups end up at the same venue in the end. The individual group leaders will yell out when it’s time to move on to the next venue. There may be delays (ie. registration), so please wait for the group leaders to call out the different groups before you head off to a venue.

The NorSK Board and the 17th of May committee are finalising everything for the annual and traditional Norwegian Constitution Day celebration on Sunday May 17!

We’re inviting everybody to come celebrate the day with us at Queensland University of Technology, D-Block Courtyard. Last year’s celebration saw people travelling from the Gold Coast, Sunshine Coast, rural QLD and NSW to come and celebrate with us here in Brisbane, and we hope you’ll take the trip again this year. Everyone is welcome, and the event itself is of course free.

Meet up around 9.00-9.30am when we’ll start to sell Norwegian flags and ribbons for the parade which starts at 10.00AM. The parade is Police escorted through the streets of Brisbane (George St., Elizabeth St., Edward St.) and back through the Botanical Gardens up to QUT GP again.

Once back at QUT we’re selling waffles and hot dogs, beverages, we have licensed area, various types of entertainment, and a raffle draw with prizes from Norway.

The program for the day will be available free of charge at the event.
